Amazing Universe

January 1, 2014. It will mark the new year and a new moon.

I always love it when the new moon comes around. I try to take note each lunar cycle and focus on something new that is emerging in my life and take positive action.

The new moon has always held significant meaning and been a time of new beginnings in many cultures.

  • The new moon begins a new lunar month in Old Testament traditions. Annual festival seasons and  observances were tied to the yearly agricultural seasons and were fixed to certain dates within a lunar calendar. The day of the new moon,  from evening to evening, was always observed in a special way.
  • The Hindu calendar is also oriented to the new moon, and people generally wait for the new moon to start new works. The waxing period of the moon is then considered good for all good works.
  • In Tibetan tradition, the “in-breathing” and “out-breathing” of the earth is a constant rhythm of life, and the new moon is symbol of beginnings and a new breath. It is a time to breathe in deeply, enter a calm state of mind, and venture forward in life.

So what does this mean for you? TAKE ACTION NOW.

For me, now is an outstanding time to state what I want and move persistently towards whatever I am desiring.

Today and tomorrow, I will reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, and set new goals and visions for where I want to be and what I want to accomplish.

Another interesting power fact…tomorrow will also be a super moon when the moon will be closest in its orbit to Earth. It is also happening when the earth is closest in its orbit to the sun.

Here’s a simple act or New Moon ritual that you could take to get the year rolling (Thanks, Laura Clark at soulwiseliving.com for this suggestion):
  • Collect items of significance to the goal you are setting.
  • Clear your energy and get centered – breathe, light a candle, chant, stare at the sky – whatever works for you.
  • Get grounded connect with the elements of the earth – take your shoes off, feel the earth.
  • Set your intentions – boldly declare to the new moon what your vision is. Write it down. Speak it.
  • Do one Symbolic Act the will symbolize the significance of what you want to accomplish.
  • Express gratitude – for whatever is ringing your chimes in your life right now.
  • Take action – don’t wait, take an inspired step forward, see what transpires between now and the next Full Moon.

GO GET IT!  IT’S ALL LINED UP AND WAITING FOR YOU!

HERE’S TO A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS 2014!
