This compilation of video from the International Space Station is stunning. I am in awe and marvel at the ability of humans to have this perspective on Mother Earth. From where I sit, looking out my office window, I see a broad vista with mountains and a large expanse of sky. The clouds and blue sky seem to extend forever. I feel small but only in comparison to what appears to be a vast, almost limitless, earth environment.
And then, I watch this video. The envelope of atmosphere that encapsulates us is only a thin protective skin that holds the essential ingredients for earth’s thriving biology.

Look at the lights on the surface of the earth night. There is almost no place where humans and technology are not. The Anthropocene. The earth epoch that many say we have entered where no system on the planet is untouched or uninfluenced by the activities of humans.
Is there really a rationale, and is there time, to risk pursuing an argument that we are not profoundly and adversely impacting the fragile, blue spacesuit that is embracing us right now?
Look up. Right now. And ask that question………Share this, please.
